Model and play actress Fatima Afandi and actor Kanwar Arsalan are getting married on November 17, 2012. Fatima and Kanwar were engaged for a long time and had done some projects together. The first play the duo appeared together was "Larkiyan Muhallay ki".

Shabana, Taliban victim for dancing

Notethis is related to the incident of 2009, January.

Shabana was one of Pakistan’s celebrated dancers and singer from Mingora, Swat Valley, Pakistan. Shabana was traditional dancer and trainer of other dancers in the city. She was reportedly warned by local Taliban leaders to stop dancing and trainings. But she ignored their warnings and had to pay the price.


She was shot and killed by the Pakistani Taliban in January 2009, accusing her to be un-Islamic. The dead body of Shabana was found on the ground covered with some currency notes, CDs of her dance performances and some pictures from her photo album. The scene was created to send the message that she was killed for dancing. After the killing a local Taliban commander, Maulana Shah Dauran, warning in a FM radio message that his men had killed Sabana and any other girls found performing in the city’s Banr Bazaar will also be killed.

Eight Indian dance styles are defined by Sangeet Natak Akademi (The National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama) setup by the Government of India.

What is Belly Dance ?

The word "Belly Dance" is made-up in the western world to represent the traditional West Asian dance called ‘Raqa Sharqi’ in Arabic. ‘Raqa Sharqi’ translates into eastern/oriental dancing. This dance involves every part of body, not only the belly. To make it more attractive, the most featured body part is usually the hips. Belly dance is usually performed by women but there are some varieties like cane dance that are performed by male dancers.


These days belly dance performed in restaurants and cabarets around the world. It is more commonly performed by female dancers but is also sometimes danced by men. It is a solo improvisational dance, although students often perform choreographed dances in a group.

Another form of belly dance, known in Arabic as ‘Raqs baladi’ literally means "local dancing", or "folk" dance. This type of dance is danced socially by men and women during festive occasion like weddings. In some parts of Arabic world, especially in Egypt, Raqs sharqi generally means belly dancing.

In the western world, belly dance was made popularized during the romantic movement of 18th and 19th century.  At that time dancers from Middle Eastern countries used to be invited to perform at various World’s Fairs and the dances were used as a tool to draw huge crowds.

Priyanka and John to reprise Amitabh and Rekha in SAW

Although Miss India and Miss World of 2000, Priyanka Chopra, has yet to public admit on doing the item number in ‘Shootout At Wadala’ (SAW), new rumors have been going on recently. In a latest rumor, Priyanka and John Abraham are said to be reprising a number of Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan classics in the item/mujra songs they will be featured in. Mujra dance in ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ (1978), ‘Salaam-E-Ishq…’ featuring Rekha and Amitabh was one of the super-hit songs of that time.


Although Priyanka had done some hot desi dances in 2008 movie ‘Dostana’ and in ‘Agneepath’, the murja dance will be the first item dance in her filmy career.

Sunny Leone forced to cancel visit to Ena village for Navratri

Like every year, Navratri festival organizers of Ena village in Bardoli, India have invited a noted Bollywood celebrity. This year, the celebrity happened to be famed Sunny Leone as guest in the October 20 event. After setting up posters and hoarding boards  in Bardoli and the areas, local started protesting the ill-reputed actress to be a guest in such an auspicious ceremony.


After receiving some threatening calls from unidentified people and when her posters were painted black by people, the organizers were forced to cancel Sunny’s invitation. The organizers told that they don’t want any controversy in the case so the are looking for the alternative celebrity for being a guest in the event. They hope the Karishma Kapoor or Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh will accept invitation to be the guest in the celebration.

Mona Lisa (Lizza) inspired by Sunny Leone to change her name?

Pakistani actress Mona Lizza, who has also appeared in a 2008 Bollywood movie ‘Kajraare’, is told to be very inspired by Sunny Leone.  She is so inspired that she has decided to change her name to Sara Leone. It is reported in media that she had also consulted with astrologists on the matter before adopting the new name. The astrologist has reportedly agreed that the new name, Sara Leone, would help her gain more fame in Bollywood.


Born in Kuwait Mona Lizza started her acting career in 2003 and has done a number of drama serials and is also known as Mona Lisa and Sara Loren.
