Musical ‘Wah! Wah! Girls’ to premiere in London in 2012

A new musical, "Wah! Wah! Girls" is scheduled to premiere at the Sadler’s Wells, Peacock Theatre with theme “East London meets Bollywood” from 24 May to 23 June 2012. This will mark the the first collaboration between Sadler’s Wells, Stratford East and Kneehigh.


The musical is Written by acclaimed playwright Tanika Gupta (Fragile Land, Sugar Mummies fame) and is directed by  award-winning director Emma Rice.

The musical is inspired by the song and dance of traditional Mujra dancers entertaining rich and powerful people for generations with sensual dances and songs. Wah! Wah! Girls is told to be a ‘passionate and playful story’ set agains a vibrant background. The dance sequences are choreographed by Bollywood master Javed Sanadi and leading Kathak choreographer Gauri Sharma Tripathi. The dances mix classic Bollywood tracks with new music composed by Niraj Chag.  Wah! Wah! Girls is mainly targeted to the modern British-Asian community.
